La radio es
un medio de comunicación que está presente en nuestro día cotidiano, muy a pesar
de la llegada de aparatos más modernos y la internet, ella sigue gozando de su
puesto número uno. ¿Por qué? La
respuesta es muy fácil, es muy especial, de bajo coste, inmediato, flexible y
de mayor alcance actualmente. Su poder es
transmitir información, noticias, cultura, educación, entretenimiento y sobre
todo puede ser un medio de alerta en un momento determinado. Ahora conocemos a
los locutores, antes interactuaban sin conocerse, únicamente por medio de la
voz. Son muchos los seres especiales que pasaron y están en la radio venezolana,
hoy vienen hoy a mi memoria: Carlos Eduardo Ball, Porfirio Torres, Napoleón
Bravo, Nelson Bocaranda, Eli Bravo, Alba Cecilia Mujica y Anna Vaccarella, solo
por nombrar algunos. Venezuela siempre fue pionera en el talento de la radio, porque
sus profesionales estaban verdaderamente apasionados con la comunicación y la
música. La historia de hoy tiene un
protagonista de ese gran mundo, el Sr. Alberto Farfán, quien nos cuenta su
aventura musical. Gracias por compartir

El Expreso Nocturno ha significado para mí un verdadero proyecto de vida que comenzó a transitar desde mi niñez. Ya a los 5 años, mis padres compartían mucha música y me comparaban discos en 45rpm, con artistas de la época como Los Archies, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5 y muchos más. Lo hacían de forma semanal y cada 15 días me compraban un LP (33rpm). Así inicio mi afición por la música y también por otras de mis pasiones de vida: el inglés. Me llamaba la atención la manera como cantaban en mis discos y comencé a tararear, cantar y familiarizarme con la forma de pronunciar el idioma.
En el liceo me decían que tenía voz de locutor, además me encargaba de todo lo que involucraba la música, amenizaba las fiestas, poseía una miniteca, era disc-jockey, también cantaba salsa e imitaba la voz de Héctor Lavoé. Y continuaba mi gran gusto por el inglés. Seguía creciendo mi amor por la radio, que escuchaba en mis tiempos libres, recuerdo Capital 710, Caracas 750, Éxitos 1090, La Estación de la Alegría, Tropical 990 y otras emisoras de moda en la época. Soñaba con poder compartir con esos maravillosos locutores, un programa.
Al cumplir mis
dieciocho años, me propuse varias metas, entre ellas obtener el certificado de
locutor. No era muy fácil para la época ya que la prueba era bastante exigente,
sin embargo lo logré conseguir. Recuerdo que el jurado me solicitó hacer una
presentación de un programa de radio de algún género musical que me gustara y
escogí hacerlo de Jazz, también me
solicitaron cantar un tema en inglés y se me ocurrió cantar un tema de los Bee Gees que estaba de moda: How deep is your love (Cuán profundo es tu amor). Fue muy
emocionante y sentí estar en un gran escenario con un jurado muy contento con
lo que hacía, además de la gente que apoyándome al observarme.
Mis inicios como locutor fueron en una emisora de La Guaira llamada Radio 1070. Fue en un proyecto sabatino de nombre Week End Musical. Era un programa de variedades y tenía algunos segmentos que producía. La adrenalina se ponía a millón cuando estaba al aire, sin embrago lo disfrutaba mucho, además de los maravillosos comentarios de la audiencia, que en esa época eran solamente por vía telefónica.
Luego por metas personales, me dediqué a otras actividades profesionales en la empresa en la cual transcurrí una gran cantidad de años en mi vida, La CANTV. Allí inicie desde muy joven, me gradué de Bachiller, también de Técnico Superior y obtuve mi Licenciatura en Administración. Comencé como Operador de Tráfico Internacional y finalicé siendo Gerente de una área administrativa muy importante.
Pero seguía mi gran gusto por la música y el inglés, de hecho, todas mis labores profesionales han tenido que ver con ese idioma, sin olvidar mi pasión por la radio. Cuando se dio la oportunidad, trabajé en una emisora llamada Jazz 95.5fm, dial que se destacaba por explorar géneros musicales distintos para un público diferente. Allí tuve un especial programa llamado Jazz On Line, el cual combinaba información de tecnología con temas musicales del Smooth Jazz y otros géneros maravillosos. Colaboraba con uno de los mejores de la época, el Sr. Néstor Mena, quien fue mi guía y mentor en gustos musicales diferentes.
Luego continué en otra de las ocupaciones profesionales que me apasionan como lo es la docencia. Tengo un componente docente y he dado clases a nivel universitario, técnico y otros niveles, de otras de las pasiones de mi vida: el inglés. He disfrutado maravillosas experiencias de compartir de saberes en los idiomas, también soy profesor de mí amado español.
En el desarrollo de mi viaje conocí a una gran persona, mi amigo Alejandro Farías, líderes de radiodifusión, junto a su familia y fundador de emisoras extraordinarias en nuestra zona Guarenas – Guatire: Radio Industrial y Supernova 103.9fm. Se desarrolló una alianza comercial entre la empresa donde yo trabajaba y la emisora. Surgió la posibilidad de hacer radio y comencé haciendo el programa “Contigo en domingo”, que se transmitía de 4 a 6 pm, la idea era llevar una música diferente y de buen gusto en ese horario. Fue una experiencia muy emocionante y gratificante. “Contigo en domingo” fue extendido hasta las 8 de la noche.
Después de un tiempo, salió la posibilidad de hacer un programa en la semana y comenzó el Expreso Nocturno, de 8 a 9pm, con propuestas musicales diferentes como Smooth Jazz, Chill Out y otros géneros. Al poco tiempo el horario del programa comenzó a las 7pm y más adelante arrancó a las 6 de la tarde.
La misión del viaje era combinar música adulto contemporáneo, temas de la actualidad, grandes recuerdos y nuevas propuestas musicales, lográndose convertir en el programa de mayor audiencia y participación en las noches de las dos ciudades. Es un espacio totalmente interactivo, donde el premio es la interacción de los protagonistas principales: la mejor audiencia de la zona (y de otros países). Cada noche nuestros oyentes se comunican con nosotros, solicitándonos sus canciones de preferencia, enviando saludos, notas espectaculares de colaboración, haciendo un ambiente muy agradable, lleno de magia y relax para el anochecer de las dos ciudades.
Para mí es
un especial regalo del universo poder
contar con el Expreso Nocturno, en cada viaje no me canso de decir que tengo la
mejor audiencia de las dos ciudades y mucho más allá, logrando hacer una gran
cantidad de amigos virtuales, que juntos disfrutamos de la buena música y un ambiente
realmente especial. Siento que en el programa reúno todas las grandes pasiones
de mi vida.
Ya son más
de 10 años y con la ayuda de Dios y de ustedes, serán muchos años más.

Radio is a means of communication that is present in our daily lives, despite the arrival of more modern devices and the Internet, it continues to enjoy its number one position. Why? The answer is very easy, it is very special, low-cost, immediate, flexible and currently has the greatest reach. Its power is to transmit information, news, culture, education, entertainment and, above all, it can be a means of alerting at a given time. Now we know the speakers, before they interacted without knowing each other, only through the voice. There are many special beings who passed by and are on Venezuelan radio, today they come to my memory: Carlos Eduardo Ball, Porfirio Torres, Napoleón Bravo, Nelson Bocaranda, Eli Bravo, Alba Cecilia Mujica and Anna Vaccarella, just to name a few. The Night Express has meant for me a true life project that began to travel since my childhood. Already at the age of 5, my parents shared a lot of music and they compared me records in 45rpm, with artists of the time such as The Archies, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5 and many more. They did it weekly and every 15 days they bought me an LP (33rpm). This is how I began my love of music and also of my other passions in life: English. I was struck by the way they sang on my records and I began to hum, sing and familiarize myself with how to pronounce the language.
In high school they told me I had the voice of an announcer, I was also in charge of everything that involved music, I entertained parties, I had a mini library, I was a disc jockey, I also sang salsa and imitated the voice of Héctor Lavoé. And my great taste for English continued. My love for the radio continued to grow, which I listened to in my free time, I remember Capital 710, Caracas 750, Éxitos 1090, La Estación de la Alegría, Tropical 990 and other fashionable stations at the time. I dreamed of being able to share a program with those wonderful announcers.
When I
turned eighteen, I set myself several goals, including obtaining a
broadcaster's certificate. It was not very easy for the time since the test was
quite demanding, however I managed to achieve it. I remember that the jury
asked me to make a presentation of a radio program of some musical genre that I
liked and I chose to make it Jazz, they also asked me to sing a song in English
and it occurred to me to sing a song by the Bee Gees that was fashionable : How
deep is your love . It was very exciting and I felt like I was on a big stage
with a jury very happy with what I was doing, as well as the people who
supported me by watching me.
My beginnings as an announcer were on a station in La Guaira called Radio 1070. It was on a Saturday project called Week End Musical. It was a variety show and he had some segments that he produced. The adrenaline was a million when it was on the air, however I enjoyed it a lot, in addition to the wonderful comments from the audience, which at that time were only by telephone.
Later, for personal goals, I dedicated myself to other professional activities in the company in which I spent a large number of years in my life, La CANTV. I started there from a very young age, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree, also a Higher Technician and obtained my Bachelor's degree in Administration. I started as International Traffic Operator and ended up being Manager of a very important administrative area.
But my great taste for music and English continued, in fact, all my professional work has had to do with that language, without forgetting my passion for radio. When the opportunity arose, I worked at a station called Jazz 95.5fm, a dial that stood out for exploring different musical genres for a different audience. There I had a special program called Jazz On Line, which combined information technology with music from Smooth Jazz and other wonderful genres. I collaborated with one of the best of the time, Mr. Néstor Mena, who was my guide and mentor in different musical tastes.
Then I continued in another of the professional occupations that I am passionate about, such as teaching. I have a teaching component and I have given classes at the university, technical and other levels, about another of my life's passions: English. I have enjoyed wonderful experiences of sharing knowledge in languages, I am also a teacher of my beloved Spanish.
During my trip I met a great person, my friend Alejandro Farías, radio broadcasting leaders, along with his family and founder of extraordinary radio stations in our Guarenas – Guatire area: Radio Industrial and Supernova 103.9fm. A business alliance developed between the company where I worked and the broadcaster. The possibility of doing radio arose and I started doing the program “With you on Sunday”, which was broadcast from 4 to 6 pm, the idea was to bring different and tasteful music at that time. It was a very exciting and rewarding experience. "With you on Sunday" was extended until 8 at night.
After a while, the possibility of doing a program during the week came up and the Night Express began, from 8 to 9 pm, with different musical proposals such as Smooth Jazz, Chill Out and other genres. Soon the schedule of the program began at 7 pm and later it started at 6 in the afternoon.
The mission of the trip was to combine contemporary adult music, current affairs, great memories and new musical proposals, becoming the program with the largest audience and participation in the nights of the two cities. It is a totally interactive space, where the prize is the interaction of the main protagonists: the best audience in the area (and from other countries). Every night our listeners communicate with us, requesting their favorite songs, sending greetings, spectacular notes of collaboration, creating a very pleasant atmosphere, full of magic and relaxation for the evening of the two cities.
For me it is a special gift from the universe to be able to count on the Expreso Nocturno, on each trip I never tire of saying that I have the best audience in the two cities and far beyond, managing to make a large number of virtual friends, who together we enjoy good music and a really special atmosphere. I feel that in the program I gather all the great passions of my life.
It's already been more than 10 years and with the help of God and yourselves, it will be many more years.
